• The whining noise you hear in 5th gear could be from the carrier bearing. The carrier bearing helps support the passenger side CV axle and also keeps the planetary gears of the differential aligned. After I had my throwout bearing replaced for the second time, my car had a high-pitched whining noise when driven on the interstate.
The only thing that makes sense if it only happens in reverse is the brake shoes inside your rear brake drum, they are the ones that engage when you pull your emergency brake. If, in the video, you're repeatedly reversing the car a few feet then s...
  • Oct 23, 2012 · Most that I've replaced have been when the wheel is under an acceleration load but I've had a few only make noise under deceleration. Another suspect I'd look at is one of your drive-line U-joints. A quick test on the drive line if you cant get underneath the car is while stopped shift from reverse to drive and back to reverse and listen for a clunking from underneath the car (around middle-to back) if its an auto.
  • The roaring you hear is excess engine noise that would normally get silenced by the muffler. When your exhaust system fails, all of your engine’s sound waves and vibrations get channeled into the car.
  • A slight whine or fan/pump noise while the car is idle, not charging, and has not been driven. It's been cold here (+/-30F) and my guess is that it's got something to do with battery warming/cooling. The odd thing is that vampire loss while this has been happening is low - 4 miles in 24hrs while unplugged.
Apr 18, 2016 · be happy - when cold, mine makes a whining noise when moving forward. it's similar to the noise you hear when driving in reverse (but quieter), only happens when it's cold, and i notice it every morning when i take off for work i'd rather have the one when shutting off!

I have this whining noise. I have no clue what it is. The sound goes with the rpm's. As the gears shift and the rpm's drop the noise get lower. A friend said it sounds like the alternator is going bad.Regarding the sound it makes, in my case I have noticed that the noise does follow the engine. Higher revs make the frequency higher, lower revs make it lower, but always there is a lag from the engine to the noise. Let off the gas and the noise will decrease in frequency but at a slower pace. He picked out every single "scratch" when my car was 3 days old, and when he heard the noise when I was backing up, he was about ready to head to the Toyota factory himself and ask whats everyone's major malfunction. Edit: "A car is not supposed to be making noises when backing up!" "All cars make noise when they back up, dad." "No they don't!"🐐 Fastapi vs sanic
